Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Contact taxpayers through phone calls, field visits to residence, place of employment, and/or businesses to resolve delinquent tax liabilities. Promote voluntary compliance, negotiate payment arrangements, offer in compromises, record case documentation, review financial statements and supporting documentation, research tax compliance, educate taxpayers, investigate levy sources, determine the use of administrative enforcement. Field investigation to contact and locate a taxpayer or assets. Require in-state travel, including walking long distances 500 feet or more. Issue subpoenas to obtain and verify financial information, to obtain information to determine abatements, administrative enforcement, and cases referred to the Attorney General's Office for civil proceedings.

• Pursuant to ARS Title 42, the use of administrative enforcement including the filing of tax liens, issuing levies for rights to property, referring cases to the counts for Order to Show Cause hearings, filing complaints about suspension/revocation of Registrar of Contractors licenses, filing affidavits of tax deficiencies with the Arizona Liquor Board and Control, filing of liens with AZ MVD and AZ Department of Game and Fish.
• The seizure and sale of assets and/or inventory to satisfy delinquent tax liabilities. Determine lien priority, review and analyze the value of assets/inventory, securing the property, preparing and conducting assets for public auction, and physically moving assets to set up a sale. This may require lifting and moving items 50 lbs. in weight. Filing all public documents in statutorily required locations.

Collection processes from assessment, billing, to collection enforcement of transaction privilege tax, individual income, corporate, withholding, and waste tire tax systems.

• Automated collection system and mainframe applications and systems.

• Read, interpret, disseminate, and apply complex and comprehensive tax-related information, laws, policies, legislative proposals, various agency communications, and contracts.

• Select proper resolutions to problems. Effectively manage an assigned collection inventory.
• Work with public, private sectors, division personnel, and other government officials. Synthesize business, legal, and collect information in order to make informed decisions relating to tax collection. Manage time and multi-task.
• To work under pressure maintaining decorum and professionalism.
• Deductive and Inductive reasoning. Learn and apply LEAN concepts, principles, and tools used to create and deliver perspectives with the fewest resources with continuous problem-solving.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
• Three to five years of collection experience with an emphasis on the mortgage and/or commercial collections, College level courses in Business, Accounting, and or Finance. Training in multiple tax systems, on-the-job training, and or by Attorney General's office. Experience with Continuous Improvement or LEAN is preferred.
Valid driver's license.
