Manage and reduce fire risk to protect Arizona's people, communities, and wildland areas to champion the health of Arizona's natural resources. The Department of Forestry and Fire Management provides services through strategic implementation of cooperative natural resources and fire assistance programs, development and support of statewide fire policies, and coordination of resources across all-lands and jurisdictions.

Job Summary:

The Forest Products Specialist will coordinate the flow of forest products from DFFM - managed projects to collaborating partners within the field, both public and private. The Forest Products Specialist will coordinate with collaborators and develop operational strategies to facilitate and optimize the sale, re-purpose or disposal of forest products produced by DFFM - managed projects. The Forest Products Specialist will support existing forest products companies and also provide technical assistance to new and emerging forest products companies.

Job Duties:
  • Develop operational strategies and coordinate the flow of forest products such as timber and woody biomass from DFFM - managed projects to collaborating partners within the field, both public and private.
  • Coordinate with collaborators to facilitate and optimize the sale, re-purpose or disposal of forest products produced by DFFM - managed projects
  • Support existing forest products companies with technical assistance in technology transfer, acquisition of grant and investment funding, raw material supply, and market development and expansion.
  • Provide technical assistance to new and emerging forest products companies through professional contacts development, raw material supply and siting opportunities.
  • Conduct carbon market and life cycle analyses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Selective Preference(s):

Three years of work experience in forest products. Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) from an accredited university in Forestry, Forest Economics, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, or related field.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

A valid Arizona Driver's License. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
