The Arizona Department of Gaming is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Gaming Machine Compliance Technician. This position inspects and tests electronic gaming devices, electronic slot monitoring systems, verifies authenticity of electronic gaming software and control programs, and inspects and test any peripheral gaming related software and hardware. The Gaming Machine Compliance Technician will also inspect and tests kiosks, keno systems, progressive systems, and dealer controlled electronic table games. This position will review casino records and system reports to ensure that gaming devices and progressive systems are functioning properly and contain appropriate software. The Gaming Machine Compliance Technician perform onsite inspections of all new electronic gaming devices, electronic slot monitoring systems, progressive systems, and kiosks. All work, including remote work, will be performed within Arizona.

Work Environment & Travel Requirements:
• Frequent travel to gaming facilities across Arizona for inspections and compliance testing, within Northern Arizona Area - Flagstaff, Payson, Prescott, Verde Valley.
• May require overnight stays and a flexible work schedule, including nights or weekends.
• Work in varied environments, including gaming facilities, office settings, and field inspections.

● Responsible for the integrity verification for electronic gaming devices, electronic slot accounting systems, progressives, kiosks, and any gaming peripheral related to Class III gaming.
● Compiles information to update the Department’s database with the tracking of all electronic gaming devices, electronic slot accounting systems, progressive systems, and approved gaming software for all Arizona gaming facilities.
● Certifies any upgrades and/or modifications to gaming device software and hardware to ensure gaming device software and gaming peripheral software and hardware comply with the testing conducted by an independent testing lab.
● Occasionally conducts random inspections and testing of electronic gaming devices in operation at all Arizona gaming facilities to ensure the electronic gaming devices comply with the Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact, Appendix A, and the technical standards and regulatory controls.
● Works closely with Tribal Gaming Offices, Gaming Facility Operators, and vendors to collaboratively find solutions to resolve any non-compliant issues.
● Must be capable of working independently on difficult assignments, gathering facts, organizing, analyzing and comprehending information to make logical interpretations necessary to perform operational duties.

Knowledge of:

• Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact and appendices A Independent testing laboratory technical standards.
• Mechanical functions and play aspects of gaming devices, progressives, kiosks, and dealer controlled electronic table games.
• Mechanical troubleshooting methods and techniques.
• Evaluating internal control systems.
• Techniques in reviewing and analyzing data.
• Slot accounting systems and processes. Gaming industry procedures and regulations.

Skills in:

• Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving to assess and resolve gaming device issues.
• Analyzing and interpreting compliance reports to ensure regulatory adherence.
• Maintaining effective working relationships with casino personnel, Tribal Gaming Offices, and manufacturers.
• Gathering facts, organizing, and comprehending information to make logical interpretations necessary to perform operational duties.
• Working independently with a minimum amount of supervision and make effective judgments on the basis of partial or incomplete evidence.
• Effective written and verbal communication, including reviewing lab certification reports.

Ability to:

• Be detail-oriented and highly observant in inspecting and certifying gaming devices.
• Organize and manage multiple tasks efficiently, meeting strict deadlines.
• Work independently with initiative, while also collaborating as part of a regulatory team.
• Formulate and communicate regulatory actions to decision-makers and industry stakeholders.
• Travel statewide, including overnight stays, to conduct on-site inspections.
• Work in a casino environment, including areas with smoke and extended periods of standing.

• At least three (3) years of experience as a slot technician, tribal gaming regulator, or IT technician in a related field.
• Experience with standard gaming device testing equipment and compliance procedures.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (required).

● Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
