The Department of Economic Security, Division of Financial Operations, Analytics and Reporting Office, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a GIS Analyst. This role provides extensive support to the senior analyst by collecting, managing, and analyzing geospatial data to create maps and identify key insights for decision-making. The GIS Analyst, distinct from the Senior, will be responsible for being familiar with department business operating data found in systems like AZ360 (HRM) and AZ360 (Financial) to ensure data consistency and enhance decision-making insights with geographic context. Responsibilities also include geocoding, managing digital maps and web applications, and providing technical expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to clients and users by offering a high level of maintenance of systems and applications.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department’s business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

● Supports the GIS Anlayst Senior with maintaning data consistency accross systems like AZ360 (HRM) and AZ360 (Financial), Data Application Protocal Interface as well as other websites.
● Engages with internal and external customers to understand functional requirements for GIS projects and guides them on the available GIS products that would best meet their needs.
● Perform complex spatial analysis, including building spatial data models.
● Produce data layers, maps, geocoding, tables, or reports, using spatial analysis procedures, provide expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology and offer a high level of maintenance of sytems and applications.
● Assemble, update and maintain GIS tools and apps for ongoing use.
● Perform root cause analysis and remediations for department GIS server apps and tools.

● GIS systems.
● Spatial data, database management systems.
● Query tuning and troubleshooting

● Assemble engaging reports for multiple audiences.

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

● Bachelor's degree with 2 plus years of work experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and analysis experience. Advanced GIS software training (modeling and database integration). Demonstrated knowledge and work experience using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online GIS certification such as GISP (GIS Professional), preferred.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

● If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
● Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period.
