We are seeking a talented and engaged intern who wants to develop beyond the classroom. In this role, you will work closely with our GIS team to help analyze and improve the quality of datasets, focusing on permitted facility locations. You will improve the use of web GIS in the agency by helping to organize, update, and curate web GIS resources.
Final Project:
• Is to improve the quality of data resources within DEQ’s Agency.
You will bring the following to the internship:
• The ability and skills to follow written instructions
• Knowledge of different software applications
• Ability to perform repetitive work independently under remote supervision
• Ability to create/update charts to track progress
• Ability to communicate issues/questions promptly
• Knowledge of data cleaning/SQL/GIS is a plus.
You will gain the following from this internship:
• Knowledge of ADEQ business functions, enterprise data management system, and data quality fundamentals.
• Insights and knowledge of GIS tools for sharing and visualizing geospatial data.
• Intern candidate must be in their Junior or Senior year of a BS/BA or working towards a Masters/PhD program.
• Selective preference will be given to students in Environmental Science, Geographic Information Systems or Data analytics
• Candidate must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
• Candidate must have the right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.
• Candidate must be at least 18 years old.
