Job Summary:
  • The Office of Tourism is looking for a Grants and Community Relations Manager to assist the Director of Government and Community Affairs on the development, implementation and management of the Arizona Office of Tourism grants, including the Visit Arizona Initiative (VAI).
  • The Grants and Community Relations Manager will coordinate and manage the agency’s grant programs. This includes maintaining governance, technical support, training, reporting, tracking of metrics and performance indicators, audit function, communication, grant committee meetings and continuous improvement.
Job Duties:
  • Assist in the organizing of all activities that involve the implementation and completion of grant applications, pertinent paperwork, and administration.
  • Work with the finance department to ensure that all funding sources are allocated correctly.
  • The Community Affairs Manager will aid the Director of Government and Community Affairs to maintain relationships with various Federal, state and local authorities and community partners regarding grant opportunities.
  • Manage community-based programs, like the Arizona Visitor Information Center (AVIC) Program.
  • Additionally, the position will also aid with the management of the Prop 302 Program and the Special Sporting Events Marketing Program.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):


  • Government or community affairs experience.
  • Experience with state or federal grants is a plus.
  • Google platform experience helpful (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive)


  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter work ethic.
  • Accurate and concise writing ability. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills including the demonstrated ability to meet timelines and prioritize multiple projects and efficiently work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct, explain, persuade, negotiate and facilitate, including skill in writing and analyzing data received through a variety of resources, drawing conclusions and making appropriate recommendations.
  • Excellent presentation skills.


  • Self-direction and the ability to exercise independent judgment and meet performance standards with or without supervision, with a record of achieving positive results.
  • Ability to work independently and to contribute in a team environment.
  • Manage multiple projects at once, and do It well.
Selective Preference(s):
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, public affairs, business or related field.
