Job Summary:

This position:
• Is responsible for the fiscal components of all LEA grants in the Grants Management Enterprise system. This includes processing Reimbursement Requests, Completion Reports, Completion Report Revisions, Refunds, Holds, and Interest;
• Monitors eligibility and compliance components for Maintenance of Effort (MOE) for Local Education Agencies (LEAs)
• Provides technical assistance to LEAs who are not meeting Eligibility or Compliance;
• Reviews financial reports and documentation received from LEAs; and
• Acts as liaison between Grants Management and LEAs to provide fiscal support for all of their grants.
• Occasional in-state and rare out-of-state travel is/may be required for this position.

The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

 

Job Duties:

• Process LEA Reimbursement Requests, Completion Reports, and Indirect Cost Requests and offer targeted assistance to LEAs
• Monitor eligibility and compliance components of Maintenance of Effort (MOE) for LEAs
• Fiscal Review of Payments and other reports
• Placement and Removal of Fiscal Holds (Programmatic, Global, etc.)
• Reconciliation of Fiscal Data (expenditures, encumbrances, reimbursements, etc.)
• Provide general fiscal support and technical assistance to LEAs for all of their grants.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:
• Planning, organizing, and directing fiscal matters, and budgets (preparing and controlling)
• General business services
• Procurement and contracting policies and procedures
• Audit policy and procedures
• General Accounting and/or Governmental Accounting
• Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in business, finance, statistics, accounting, or a related field or equivalent job-related experience to substitute for the degree.

Skills in:
• Read and understand financial statements
• Written and verbal communication
• Problem solving and critical analysis
• Build relationships with employees and the public
• intermediate skill in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Ability to:
• Absorb difficult and obscure concepts and conceptualize new systems
• Operate successfully in a strong team environment
• Perform to stated deadlines following established guidelines
• Produce expected results with little supervision
• Express ideas and information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

Retirement:

You will be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) upon your 27th week of employment, subject to waiting period. On or shortly after, your first day of employment you will be provided with enrollment instructions and effective date.
