Performs an advance level of highway operation duties involving flat sheet and extruded panel signs. Duties include sign fabrication, sign ordering, scheduling crews, training and guiding staff, responding and coordinating after-hours work, participating in call-back rotation, operation and training of motorized equipment in the unit, data entry, inspection of signs, assuring safe digging, and preparing and inspecting Blue Stake requests.
Oversees & directs their work as well as the crew and vendors (when needed) to maintain, install and / or fabricate roadway signs, sign structures and their components as directed by the supervisor. Ensures traffic control is adequate for work zones and uses ERS(511) to communicate traffic restrictions as needed.
Operates and trains others on various truck-mounted, and / or stand alone motorized vehicles / equipment and powered / non-powered equipment and tools in order to perform assigned duties.
Documents own work as well as crew work in PeCoS, FIS, and other programs as directed by supervisor. Utilizes laptop computer with GPS to access and collect features along the highway as needed. Assists supervisor in yearly inventories-Fixed assets, material reconciliations, night inspections, and other inspections as needed.

A valid Arizona Commercial Drivers License with proper endorsements at time of appointment.
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
