Performs a broad scope of advanced journey level highway operational duties (including scheduling, assigning and overseeing crew work, inspecting work, training and guiding staff) related to items such as operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, pavement care and preservation, roadside shoulder restoration and repairs, delivery of equipment and materials, snow removal operations, office administration, permit compliance, record keeping, work management reports, inventory and features tracking, budgeting data entry, contract preparation and tracking, environmental compliance, vehicle and equipment care.
Operates and trains others on truck-mounted and/or stand alone motorized vehicles and powered/non-powered equipment, loaders, large trucks, large
trailers, variable message boards, snowplows, pesticide spray equipment, cone trucks, power brooms, water tankers, rollers, oil boots, and attenuators.
Conducts required maintenance and minor servicing to comply with state and federal laws, rules, policies and procedures.
Inspects, repairs and trains others on all highway system features, signs, guardrails, barriers, walls, channels, pavements, drainage structures, pumps,
engines, computerized devices, landscape and irrigation components, safety and components, makes periodic adjustments, checks for performance, and
documents status for electronic management and data storage records.
Coordinates and documents the processing of the feature inventory data, inputting changes and updates, verifying the accuracy, as well as alternate work
resources in regards to prison work crews and contract services, along with in-house crews for the most efficient
manpower and equipment usage. Reviews construction as-builts for new feature items, coordinates with central maintenance on categories, and assists
construction crews for maximum efficacy. Track unit boundary changes. Analyzes & develops PeCos work program & budget.
Utilizes maint management performance system for assigned district including oversight of computer entry & work report uploads to the mainframe,
coordination & accuracy verification of quarterly data processing uploads, & oversight & uploading of the quarterly material inventory. Processes work report req & special reports requested by spvr, superintendents, & managers. Assists Unit & District with developing annual work plan & budget. Monitors unit equipment usage & expense reports. Makes contact with equip services to amend/modify reports.

High school education or GED
One year experience as Highway Operations Tech 3 or the equivalent.
PECOS, APP, Google workspace and/or MS Office Suite experience.
