Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned Employee Relations Manager to direct the activities and provide management oversight of the Employee Relations unit. This position will ensure compliance with all employment laws, personnel rules, guidelines, and agency policy and procedures, assist in developing and promoting positive business practices to improve employer/employee working relationships at all levels.
The selected candidates must be able to work independently, develop and maintain collaborative working relationships, problem-solve, and exercises good judgment. Must be able to analyze specific problems and/or situations and determine acceptable solutions within the framework of laws, rules, and regulations. Must demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Job Duties:

Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing leadership and directing all activities and function over Employee Relations.
- Set goals and objectives
- Assist staff with problem-solving regarding work methods and processes.
- Consult with ADHS management and employees on all areas of Employee Relations, including but not limited to progressive discipline, FMLA and ADA.
- Conduct investigations and write reports.
- Ensure compliance with all employment laws, personnel rules, guidelines, and agency policy and procedures.
- Act as the Complaint Administrator for ADHS and coordinate all activities regarding receipt of complaint ensuring compliance with set timeframes and applicable laws.
- Review incident reports and determine the course of action and/or if an investigation is required.

Minimum (KSAs):

- Knowledge of Federal and state statutes, rules and regulations, agency policies and rules and regulations as they apply to the HR functions of the assigned unit.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Comprehend and make inferences from written material.
- Negotiate and apply reason persuasively to resolve employee relations issues.
- Perform research, collect and analyze data and report information.
- Professionally represent ADHS to groups or individuals both internally and externally; prepare and present updates and reports.

Selective Preference(s):

Seven or more years of experience in relevant area with increased responsibility over time, requiring at least two years specialized experience in area of assignment. Bachelor's degree in relevant field may substitute for two years of specialized experience. PHR/SPHR Certification preferred.
