Our ideal candidate will have 5 years of management-level experience in human resources and financial services administration, a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field, and an HR certification.

Arizona Auditor General. As a director, you will plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and execute human resources strategy to support the Office’s operational planning and strategic direction, specifically in talent acquisition, training and development, organizational and performance management, succession planning, compensation and benefits, employee engagement and retention, and employee relations; developing and maintaining effective and productive working relationships with Management Group members and staff; and coordinating Office-wide strategic and workforce planning activities. The Human Resources and Administrative Services Director is a member of the Office’s Management Group.

   • An experienced leader with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who can effectively resolve challenging situations.
   • A creative thinker who can develop strategies for budgeting, professional development, recruiting, and retention.

Job Duties:

Main responsibilities include:
   • Ability to effectively manage budgets, understand financial forecasts, and work within budget constraints.
   • Knowledge of HR practices, principles, and applicable employment laws, statutes, rules, regulations, and standards.
   • Ability to design, modify, and implement Office-wide training programs.
   • Collaborating with Management Group members to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
   • Conducting research and analysis of organizational trends, including reviewing reports and performance metrics from the human resource information system (HRIS) or talent-management system.
   • Researching, reviewing, and modifying administrative policies and procedures to maintain best practices and compliance.
   • Maintaining knowledge of staffing and employment trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources functions.      • Ability to discuss effectively, diplomatically, and concisely strategic, workforce, and HR plans, issues, concerns, and findings with Office management, employees, and external parties, as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Minimum requirements include:
   • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in human resources, management, or related field.
   • Five years of experience in HR management.
   • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification.

   • Excellent research skills.
   • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
   • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

   • Ability to adapt to the organization’s and employees’ needs.
   • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
   • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
   • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
   • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent-management systems.
