Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Agriculture is recruiting for an energetic reliable self-starter to join our Human Resources team as a Human Resources Technician. The work location for this position is 1110 W. Washington Street, Phoenix AZ 85007

The position will assist internal and external customers regarding a wide array or personnel questions or employment opportunities, data entry, verify current and past employment. Maintain a wide variety of personnel and training records; assist with new hire orientation, and ensure compliance with rules, laws and procedures are followed; respond to questions and/or conduct research regarding benefits, Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), staffing or classifications. May be required to collect, tabulate and prepare a variety of human resource surveys and/or reports.

Some in-state travel may be required and other duties as assigned.

Job Duties:

Data entry, customer service for internal and external customers, maintain personnel and training records and other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
State and agency personnel rules, policies and procedures; federal and state employment laws; data collection, tabulation and analysis; problem solving techniques; customer service techniques; data processing, and HRIS.

Skills in:
Interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external customers
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing, responding to a wide range of personnel inquiries and situations with accuracy and diplomacy; perform a wide variety of interrelated and/or non-Human resources support; establishing priorities within limited resources; 10 key calculator; Computers and computer software and problem solving.

Ability to:
Multi task and prioritize work; accurately enter data into HRIS; learn, understand and apply state and federal laws, as well as, state and agency rules, procedures and policies; respond to a wide range of personnel inquiries and situation with accuracy and diplomacy; multitask and set priorities; research, investigate and compile data when needed; maintain composure in difficult situations; work in team environment or individually; follow set guidelines and verbal instruction

Selective Preference(s):

Experience working in a professional human resources department.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Arizona Driver's License

Requires possession of and the ability to retain a current Arizona driver’s license. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving record and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12). The employee will have to provide their own transportation and will be compensated for mileage while conducting state business.

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Mandatory condition of Employment for all employees who meet the eligibility and membership criteria defined in statue. Current contribution rate is 12.17%. Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
