The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry is seeking an enthusiastic, proactive self-starter HR Technician Senior who performs as an advocate for the applicants obtaining the necessary documentation and assisting applicants with the recruitment process. This position is also responsible for the one-on-one interactions with applicants by telephone, in person or by written communication.

Job Duties:

- Follows up daily with Correctional Officer applicants by telephone to obtain necessary hiring documentation as required
- Assists applicants in ensuring all required paperwork is completed accurately
- Refers and schedules applicants to the next step in the hiring process
- Provides assistance in acquiring documents as necessary for the recruitment process
- Assist in testing process, attends job fairs, and participates in Community Visits when required
- Independently composes correspondence to applicants on a variety of subjects concerning hiring process and recruitment process
- Maintains a daily log of interaction with applicants and inputs information into the Recruitment Unit for Selection & Hiring (RUSH) Hiring System accordingly
- Drives on State business to statewide locations
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- ADOE Personnel Rules
- ADCRR policies and procedures
- AZPOST requirements
- Composing correspondences to include proper format, spelling, and language usage
- Customer service techniques
- Personal computers using various software programs (Microsoft Office, Google)

Skill in:
- Excellent organizations skills
- Customer relations
- Handling detailed work with accuracy and speed
- Verbal and written communication
- Plan, coordinate, analyze, and establish priorities

Ability to:
- Function in a fast-paced work environment and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Develop effective operating procedures
- Learn to interpret and apply departmental policies and procedures
- Respond to a wide variety of personnel inquiries

Selective Preference(s):

- Two (2) years responsible administrative experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the assignment from an accredited college or university and one (1) of the required experience
- Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the assignment from an accredited college or university

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
