The position may be available for remote work within Arizona (1-2 days per week in the office/hoteling) 

Job Summary:

The Hydrogeologist will be in our Source Water Protection Unit and be responsible for the safeguarding of surface and ground water for current and future drinking water needs for Public Water Systems (PWSs) throughout Arizona. This position is responsible for researching impacts to drinking water quality; reviewing and interpreting hydrogeological and water chemistry data; investigating sources of pollution and identifying partners and projects to improve drinking water quality. The successful candidate will collect drinking water samples, review and develop technical reports, collaborate with internal and external partners on complex projects, and participate in priority setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:


Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and state regulations
Public Water Systems
LEAN management/ Arizona Management System (results-driven management system focusing on customer service, transparency and accountability and continuous improvement)

Abilities:

Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks without direct supervision
Balance, prioritize, and organize multiple tasks
Strong customer service skills
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Professionally represent ADEQ to the community and other state agencies
Develop and write technical documentation
Conduct training events
Utilize computer applications and programs in performance of daily tasks
Problem solve and attention to detail

Selective Preference(s):

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, geological engineering or water resources
• Level 1: 0-1years’
• Level 2: 2-4 years’ experience (Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience)
• Level 3: 5 years’ experience (Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience, Doctorate for 4 years of experience)
• Geologist-in-Training or Registered Geologist registration or ability to obtain registration after employment
