Job Summary:

This position is responsible to consult with Architecture, IT Project Management, Operations, Software Development, and other peers on proper security architecture and software development and implementation processes.

This position will report to the Chief Information Security Officer. In addition, the information security architect will be responsible to ensure risks have been identified prior to the implementation of systems within the organization while ensuring the applications developed and systems implemented are in line with security best practices, policies, and standards.

The security architect will be responsible to manage and document all external audit findings for the organization. The information security architect will acquire a complete understanding of a company’s technology and information systems.

This position will assist in the development of a structured approach to identifying and eliminating non-value-added process steps division-wide and make recommendations to integrate lean methods into the overall continuous improvement strategy of the division.

Job Duties: Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Plan, research, and design robust security architecture for any IT project.
  • Perform vulnerability testing, risk analyses, and security assessments in design.
  • Identity and write security standards.
  • Review and approve operational change requests.
  • Responsible to update any system security plans and risk documentation.
  • Responsible for managing the external audit (i.e. OAG, IRS, etc.) for accuracy and constancy in regards to security controls and operational change requests.
  • Coordinate with architect team to updates to technical designs required.
  • Review and approve with architect team all published standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of
• Thorough working knowledge of information security technologies, industry trends and best practices in the areas of risk assessment, compliance and vulnerability management.
• Specific information protection standards (HIPAA, CGIS, IRS, etc. as appropriate).
• Mastery with the concepts of ISO27000, NIST 800 and other security standards in the organization Risk assessment procedures, policy formation, role-based authorization methodologies, authentication technologies and security attack pathologies.
• ISO 27001/27002, ITIL, LEAN/Six SIGMA, and COBIT frameworks, NIST Windows, UNIX and Linux operating systems.
• Perimeter security controls – firewall, IDS/IPS, network access control and network segmentation.
• Router, switch and VLAN security; wireless security.
• Security concepts related to DNS, routing, authentication, VPN, proxy services and - DDOS mitigation technologies.
• Practices and methods of IT strategy, enterprise architecture and security architecture.
• Network security architecture development and definition.
• Knowledge of third party auditing and cloud risk assessment methodologies

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
• Bachelor's degree plus 10 or more years of experience in information security systems engineering, architecture, and design (or equivalent experience.
• Certified Information Security Systems Professional preferred.

• CISM: Certified Information Security Manager.
• CEH: Certified Ethical Hacker.

• GSEC / GCIH / GCIA: GIAC Security Certifications.
