- The enteric intern will join our team for 14-19 weeks, working 21-29 hours each week.

You would be a great fit if you have excelled in public health coursework such as epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, infectious diseases, or related disciplines.
In this role, you will be responsible for enteric case investigation and case management activities. You’ll have the opportunity to help develop and update interview training modules, participate in inter and intra-agency meetings, and provide support for food and waterborne disease surveillance and outbreak response efforts.
You will work closely with the Waterborne/Communicable Disease Investigator Coordinator, epidemiologists, and other team members to support enteric disease surveillance, case investigations, and outbreak response activities
Strong verbal and communication skills.
Knowledge of public health practices and procedures.
Skills in applying effective interviewing techniques.
Time management, organization, planning and problem solving skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail.
Spanish speaking is a plus but not necessary
YOU WILL GAIN THE FOLLOWING FROM THIS INTERNSHIP:
Case interviews, including effective questioning, rapport building, and obtaining accurate information from cases.
Knowledge of outbreak response and investigation principles.
Insight into public health agency operations, such as cross-team communication, coordination and collaboration with local and federal partners.
Familiarity with public health surveillance systems, such as MEDSIS.
Collaboration with a diverse team of professionals.
Working towards a degree and strong desire to develop beyond the classroom.
