This internship is available for remote work within Arizona (including virtual office arrangement).

Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and engaged intern who wants to develop beyond the classroom. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a guidance for the regulated community based on an air permitting regulation.

Intern Project/Outcome Expected from the Intern:
• This intern will work on air quality permits and will also create a guidance for the regulated community based on an air permit rule or emission inventory methodology.
• Checking emission calculations for accuracy
• Reviewing supporting information (published emission factors or test data to ensure correct emission factors are used)
• Evaluating assumptions and estimation methodology, and
• Communicating with the regulated community.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

You will bring the following to the internship:
• The ability to research and review scientific reports and process information
• Math skills in statistics, algebra, and calculus
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Educational background in environmental science or engineering
• Experience with technical writing and problem solving
• Ability to work in a team environment

You will gain the following from this internship:
• Real-world problem solving,
• Collaborative work in small teams,
• Introduction to air quality controls and regulation,
• Quality assurance/quality control systems and procedures, and
• Introduction to air quality modeling.

Selective Preference(s):

• Intern candidate must be in their Junior or Senior year of a BS/BA or working towards a Masters/PhD program.
• Selective preference will be given to students in Engineering.
• Candidate must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
• Candidate must have the right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.
• Candidate must be at least 18 years old.
