We are seeking a talented and engaged intern who wants to develop beyond the classroom.
Duties include; working together with the laboratory manager in developing and implementing strategies to organize and optimize operations, setting objectives and guidelines, calibrating and troubleshooting equipment, and solving issues and concerns. You will also assist on sampling trips and run errands when necessary.
Intern Project/Outcome Expected from the Intern:
• This internship will prepare the intern for a career in lab management, environmental monitoring and sampling.
Compensation is $16.50 per hour, up to 40 hours per week, with no other benefits provided.
It is up to the discretion of the respective school to provide academic credit.
This internship will begin in Spring, 2023. Hours can be adjusted to accommodate class schedules.
You will bring the following to the internship:
• Excellent attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to keep detailed records
• Knowledge or experience working with lab equipment
• Knowledge or skills in analyzing data
• Knowledge of how to operate a computer and experience with Microsoft Office.
• Strong teamwork
You will gain the following from this internship:
• Hands on experience in preparing lab equipment for upcoming research experiments
• Experience with compiling information and reporting data
• Experience in calibrating, maintaining lab equipment and using equipment to gather data
• Intern candidate must be in their Junior or Senior year of a BS/BA or working towards a Masters/PhD program.
• Selective preference will be given to students with courses in Environmental Science, Chemistry II with Lab Requirements.
• Candidate must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
• Candidate must have the right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.
• Candidate must be at least 18 years old.
