The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for a responsible Information Technology Generalist to train staff in standard work, project planning, and coordination with the Information Technology Managers and other department staff. This position is also responsible for the technical development, deployment, and maintenance of Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and Information Technology (IT) systems and services within a prison complex, training academy, parole offices, and/or related support locations.
- Performs systems analysis
- Plans and implements projects based on project requirements
- Provides guidance, assistance, and training
- Installs, configures, and upgrades client workstation operating systems and applications
- Troubleshoots complex hardware and software problems in support of the end-users
- Prepares reports and develops implementation plans
- Attends training classes, seminars, and reads trade journals to keep abreast of current industry trends
- Initiates and enforces network security via passwords, anti-virus software, and intruder detection programs
- Reviews configuration change proposals for compliance with established standards (standard work), guidelines, and policies
- Plans, tests, and implements Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) development specifications
- Adds, moves, changes, and conducts preventative maintenance and repairs on telephone systems
- Supports and administrates Cable Television (CATV) and Polycom (video conferencing) and Internet Protocol (IP) surveillance cameras
- Creates, modifies, moves, and deletes user accounts in conjunction with customer service
- Extensive travel on State business to different locations with overnight stays
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
- Network topology, resources, and understanding of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/IP
- Personal Computer (PC) operating systems, hardware, and application software
- Telecommunications (Voice and Data) systems, equipment, installation, testing, and repairing
- Surveillance systems installation, configuring, and infrastructure maintenance
- Desktop support and ticketing systems
- Wireless technologies and equipment
- Active Directory user accounts and resources
- Printers, copiers, scanners, and faxes
- Application software
- Managing network resources, anti-virus programs, email accounts, and smartphones
- CATV systems and infrastructure
- Digital conferencing software and hardware
- Data backup systems including media management
- Business English to include sentence structure and grammar

- Perform duties unsupervised and be self-motivated
- Prefer Network certifications (i.e., Microsoft Solution Expert Certification (MCSE), Computing Technology Industry Association – A+ Certification (CompTIA A+) or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a networking environment and technical training covering data communications principles, electronics, and Local Area Networks or Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN)
- Four (4) years on the job training in a networking environment
- Telecommunications or data communications environment with course work in the above areas
Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and a medical/physical examination.
