POSITION SUMMARY:

The mission of this position is to make every Arizona judge successful. This position leads the New Judge Orientation Programs of the Arizona Supreme Court, including training programs for Civil Traffic and Small Claims Hearing Officers. This position collaborates with the New Judge Orientation Planning Committees, subcommittees of the Judicial College of Arizona, to plan New Judge Orientation, revise content as needed and administer assessment and practical evaluation portions of New Judge Orientation. This includes serving as faculty for key sessions, identifying and recruiting subject matter experts to serve as faculty, tutoring new judges who need assistance during New Judge Orientation, serving as a mentor for new judges who need extra help learning their jobs, and working with a pool of mentors who provide one on one, hands-on assistance to new judges as needed. This position also coordinates with other Administrative Office of the Courts divisions to provide integrated educational services to judges and legal resources to judges who need assistance.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid-telework schedule once the employee has completed three (3) months of employment and has sufficiently proved their ability to perform assigned tasks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will have knowledge of Arizona Courts through experience as a judge, pro-tem judge, lawyer, or similar court position. They will also demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships, work effectively with diverse groups, and contribute to a team-oriented environment; create presentations that incorporate adult learning principles and deliver instruction effectively in a professional learning environment; and manage time and deadlines, prioritize tasks and lead projects to completion.

The preferred candidate will have a law degree from an accredited law school, and have five or more years of experience as a judge, pro tem judge or practicing lawyer.

Travel level: up to 30% within the state of Arizona.

SELECTION PROCESS:

This is a Regular, Full-time, Exempt level position.
