This position will conduct routine and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment, including but not limited to autoclaves, centrifuges, water purifiers, incubators, refrigerators, freezers, fume hood, Bio-Safety cabinets, and commercial dishwashers. Will ensure all work orders are addressed in a timely manner; Order parts and materials to repair all equipment and other Lab Building and Maintenance duties as assigned.
-Troubleshoot, repair, test, and calibrate defective or malfunctioning laboratory equipment. Work with the Physical Plant Supervisor II to gain a good working knowledge of the Building Automation System.
-Schedule and perform preventative maintenance procedures on laboratory equipment at the State Laboratory and maintain required records.
-Fabricate/modify laboratory equipment to meet the needs of the laboratory as directed.
-Order parts for repair and maintenance of equipment and maintain spare parts inventory as authorized. Pick up and deliver of equipment and documents and other necessary items for the laboratory. Maintain the water softener, deionizer water system, and R. 0. water system.
-Capabilities and requirements for different types of electronic test equipment and correct test methods and procedures.
-Refrigeration cycle, temperature, and pressure relationships.
-Basic knowledge of a computerized Building Automation System and how it relates to an HVAC system.
-Performance Management (PM), Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and Lean methodologies.
-Interpersonal relationships in relation to working with other staff, managers, contractors, and staff from other departments and agencies.
-Troubleshoot, repair, test, calibrate equipment, and modify all types of electronic equipment.
-Ensure that all electrical work is done in compliance with code specifications.
-Ensure all plumbing is installed in accordance with the plumbing code.
-Operate various machine shop/carpentry equipment proficiently and safely (portable drills, saws, and grinders).

Associate’s degree in biomedical equipment technology engineering, electronics or related science or equivalent and 2 years of work experience in a laboratory or hospital setting. Bachelor's degree will substitute for 1 year of work experience.
Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
