The mission of the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) is to safeguard the health, safety, and economic welfare of the public by protecting, conserving, and enhancing Arizona's water supplies in a bold, thoughtful and innovative manner. We are seeking an attorney interested in water law to join its Legal Division.

Salary:  $46,742 Min, $100,531 Midpt, $154,320 Max

Grade: ASRATT - 01

Job Summary:

Responsibilities for this position may include providing legal advice to Department staff on water law and administrative law issues, representing the Department in administrative and judicial proceedings, including the general stream adjudication, participating in meetings and negotiations related to water rights and uses, and drafting rules, laws and contracts.

Selective Preference(s):

A minimum of two years of experience as an attorney, including litigation experience, is preferred.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited law school and Arizona Bar membership is required.

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement system (ASRS). Please note, enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment. The current contribution rate is 12.41%.
