Job Summary:

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office Child & Family Protection Division/Child Support Services Section is seeking a Legal Secretary II.

Job Duties:

Legal Secretary II duties involve preparing and processing legal pleadings and documents necessary to litigate cases on behalf of the client agency. This includes drafting and typing correspondence; answering inquiries from the client, court personnel, and others regarding case activity and status; coordinating and monitoring service of process, including communicating with the process servers and locate unit; entering calendar events, deadlines, and case activities in case management database (ATLAS) to track progression of activities, reflect case status and generate follow through action; independently generating legal forms needed in all types of actions and other projects as assigned. This position may also be responsible for assisting with training of new staff members. Duties involve reviewing, creating, and processing materials and information that are confidential by federal and state laws.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

• Knowledge of word processing programs, legal terminology and legal forms.
• Knowledge of service of process procedures.
• Extensive knowledge of Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedures including court procedures and applicable time-frames.
• The principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques common to a modern law office.
• Typing 60 wpm.
• Oral and written communication.
• Interpersonal relationships.
• Managing and handling a heavy work load under pressure with multiple deadlines.
• Ability to work with interruptions and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy and exercise good judgment in safeguarding sensitive and confidential information
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to operate word processing programs for preparation of legal documents.
• Ability to track and follow through on voluminous court actions in various states.
• Ability to utilize automated case management systems and follow office procedures for maintaining and tracking records.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and perform varied tasks and track multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Selective Preference(s):

Ideal Candidates will have extensive experience as a legal secretary or completion of a post high school legal secretary/paralegal-training program.
