Job Summary:

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office Child and Family Protection Division/Protective Services Section is seeking a Legal Secretary II to provide secretarial support to one or more Assistant Attorney Generals which includes; the preparation of all legal pleadings and documents necessary to process dependency/guardianship/severance cases on behalf of the client.

Job Duties:

This position will draft and type correspondence; answering inquiries from client, court personnel, and others regarding case activity and status; use an automated case management system for data entry, maintenance and tracking of case records and activity; independently generate the necessary legal forms for all types of actions; maintain court calendar and legal deadlines; prepare documents and legal memoranda; and other projects as assigned, including transcription. Duties involve reviewing, creating, and processing materials and information that are confidential by Federal and State laws.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of word processing equipment, legal terminology, legal forms, court procedures and applicable time-frames, in general and specifically and extensive knowledge of Juvenile Court Rules related to dependency, severance, and guardianship practice, the principles, concepts, practices, methods, and techniques common to modern law office.
Building and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
Oral and written communication.
Managing and handling a heavy work load under pressure with multiple deadlines.
Ability to handle a high volume of work and stressful situations.
Ability to operate word processor for preparation of legal documents.
Ability to track and follow through on voluminous court actions in various states.
Ability to utilize automated case management systems and follow office procedures for maintaining and tracking records.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform varied tasks and track multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Selective Preference(s):

Two years of experience as Legal Secretary; or completion of a post high school legal secretary/paralegal-training program may substitute for one year of the legal secretary experience; and/or, an associates or bachelor’s degree in an associated field of study and experience in the legal field.

• Travel may be required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
