Job Summary:

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office Criminal Division/Southern AZ White Collar Tucson Section is seeking a Legal Secretary II.

Job Duties:

This position will provide legal secretarial work of considerable difficulty for two or more litigating attorneys in the Criminal Division, Southern Arizona White Collar Criminal Enterprise Section. In addition, prepares a variety of correspondence, pleadings, motions, petitions, briefs, legal forms, and independently prepares correspondence.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

• Knowledge of criminal prosecution procedures and protocols.
• Understanding of the attorney/client relationship including the need for confidentiality and discretion.
• Skill in composing various complex legal correspondence and pleadings. Grammar, punctuation, spelling, basic editing formats of a wide variety of legal documents, rules and procedures of all Arizona State and a variety of federal courts; State and office procedures for acquisition of case-related expenses and current travel policies.
• Word processing and transcribing skills. Employee must be able to assist attorneys in organization of materials and preparation for trial. Must be able to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with other agency employees and high-level public officials. Must have knowledge of various computer programs.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Skill in budgetary and mental computation.
• Skilled in researching and extracting information from statutes, codes, legal documents and court decisions.
• Ability to understand the attorney/client relationship including the need for confidentiality and discretion.
• Word processing and transcription. Employee must also be able to compose correspondence and to assist attorneys in organization of material and preparing for trial. Must be able to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with other agency employees and high-level public officials.

Selective Preference(s):

Bilingual preferred.

• Travel is required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
