The Arizona Barbering and Cosmetology Board's mission is to protect the public's health and safety by licensing qualified schools, establishments, and individuals, and ensure compliance with state statutes and regulations.

*This position will be hybrid with 4 days working remotely

*Wednesday is required in-office & may require addition days in-office at managers discretion*

Job Summary:

The Licensing Specialist processes all application types for the Arizona Barbering and Cosmetology Board.

The ideal candidate is familiar with relevant statutes and rules and is able to process all license applications and renewal types, as assigned, in a timely manner utilizing critical thinking skills.

Follows up on deficient items in a timely manner, and performs any other responsibilities as required.

Job Duties:

• Analyze, verify, interpret, and track primary source documentation received in support of license applications to determine validity and completeness of documents and identify deficiencies

• Respond to requests either verbally or in writing regarding application status and processes related to Arizona licensure ensuring that statutes and rules are followed

• Process, evaluate, and input applicant information into the database to ensure all requirements to be licensed are met and provided to the licensing leader for approval

• Approval and issuance of licenses according to Arizona Revised Statutes and Arizona Administrative Code

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:

• Arizona Administrative Code governing licensing of cosmetologists, barbers, and schools

• Department policies/procedures

• Arizona Revised Statutes

• Microsoft Office Suite

• Credentialing process

• Database software

• Google Suite

Skill:

• Effective oral and written communication

• Customer service (telephone and email)

• Problem solving techniques

• Detail orientation

• Organization

Ability:

• Understanding the relevance of the information required

• Gathering all required information for licensing

• Analyze information pertinent to licensure

• Work in a fast-paced environment

• Adapt to changing priorities

Selective Preference(s):

• Previous experience in credentialing in a regulatory environment pr one year experience in credentialing

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)

• Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment
