Job Summary:

The Department of Economic Security, Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) plays an integral role in improving Arizona’s workforce by assisting individuals who are unemployed or underemployed, and those with barriers, to prepare for and obtain meaningful employment. DERS supports Arizona employers with recruitment assistance by connecting them to a skilled workforce. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Local Veteran's Employment Representative 4 (LVER) with the Workforce Development Administration. This position is responsible for:

Job Duties:

• Identifying, cultivating, and engaging employers in a positive relationship with ARIZONA@WORK; Establishing, registering, and building long-term relationships with new and existing businesses with a focus on placement services, expediting workforce solutions for business needs utilizing labor market information, education talent pipelines, innovative programs, and our job-seeker talent pool.
• Collaborating with our other administrations, managers, vet coordinators, disabled veterans’ team, vocational rehabilitation job developers to identify potential job opportunities for their veteran clients.
• Conducting outreach to employers to assist veterans in obtaining gainful employment, recruitment events, seminars for employers and job search workshops.
• Facilitating employment, training, and placement services furnished to veterans.
• Contacting community leaders, employers, unions, training programs, and veterans' service organizations to be sure eligible veterans get the services to which they are entitled.
• Working with federal contractors and give priority to eligible veterans, promote the participation of veterans in federally funded employment and training programs.
• Supplying management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

• Knowledge of Private Sector Business such as effective presentation techniques and veteran’s exceptional qualities.
• Knowledge of federal and state unemployment and employment service laws, regulation, policies, and procedures, to include U.S. Department of Labor.
• Skills in using MS Office and/or Google Docs.
• Abilities to plan and organize daily work routine by establishing priorities for the completion of work in accordance with time management methodology.
• Abilities to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Abilities to listen and understand business, internal and external partners, and management needs.

Selective Preference(s):

• Prefer working knowledge with military veterans, interviewing skills, knowledge of community-based organizations, veterans service organization, and working with military veterans. Veterans applying must have a DD214, and a Veterans Administration rating letter.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
• Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to obtain an AZ State Fingerprint Clearance Card. Applicants for this position will be required to apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card.
• In-State travel and out of state travel is required. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207-12). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement.
