The Vice President of Marketing and Communications is directly responsible for advancing the message and mission of AHS to residents and visitors both within the state and beyond. This individual leads a broad-ranging department and staff that includes membership, social media and business development communications, graphic design, and all events-planning functions. Working with the Executive Director, Development Director and alongside other Vice Presidents within AHS, they will establish and implement long-term strategies to retain and develop AHS' membership and fundraising initiatives. They will manage donor records and gift giving efforts. They will maintain a high level of excellence in on-site rentals and events, including weddings, corporate gatherings, and AHS public programs. They will promote current and upcoming AHS activities through a regulated social media/newsletter/outreach calendar, and they will develop innovative marketing strategies to expand audience reach and general awareness of AHS. This individual will provide timely monthly reports on departmental activities for the AHS Board of Directors, oversee departmental payroll hours, manage the departmental budget, and regularly update MAP evaluations of reporting staff.

-Develop, implement, and maintain an agency-focused and state-wide communications strategy, to include business development, both AHS monthly newsletters, social media postings, events and activities calendars, and member
-Develop, implement, and maintain fundraising initiatives and gift-giving campaigns, to include on-site activities, mailers, and across social media.
-Develop, implement, and maintain current operations and new strategies for on-site AHS facility event rentals and public programming events.
-Oversee a broad-ranging department, to include activities related to vision and leadership, management of payroll hours and operational budgets, and recognition of staff performance through regularly-updated MAP evaluations.
-Provide regular updates on activities and initiatives within the department, through both scheduled meetings and submitted reports, and participate in cross-departmental programs and planning.
-Maintain donor contribution and gift-giving lists, in compliance with State and Federal reporting laws.
-Extensive knowledge of communications strategic planning and donor outreach.
-Extensive knowledge and understanding of communications trends and best practices.
-Thorough knowledge of Arizona and regional history, including awareness of current academic and popular history trends.
-Extensive knowledge of museum practices including understanding a museum's role within communities.
-Skills in interpersonal communications.
-Skills in effectively dealing with internal and external guests and partners with tact and diplomacy.
-Skills in effectively recognizing and rewarding patron support at all levels, and inspire new giving.
-Skills in leading a team of professionals at multiple locations state-wide.
-Skills in proficiently navigating office software programs, including DonorPerfect, EventPro, MS Office, and Google Suite.
-Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written, and to prioritize and manage multiple time sensitive tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
-Ability to recognize and successfully navigate potentially sensitive subjects, ensuring dynamic but non-partisan content that remains approachable to broad and diverse audiences.

Bachelor's degree in Market or Advertising minimum 5 years experience.
Must have or be able to obtain an Arizona's Driver License.
