We are looking for an outstanding Medical Records Supervisor. This important position is responsible for the operation of the medical records program of the Arizona State Veterans Home- Tucson.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Conduct a variety of complex and routine audits
Monitor medical records for completeness and accuracy
Track all audits for follow- up and report to Department Heads/Administrator
Verifies Medicare five- day assessment dates, MDS completion, and documentation
Verifies order of diagnosis in chart
Analyzes data for quality assurance, risk management, and utilization management
Compile medical care, diagnosis, and census data for statistical reports
Supply statistical information as needed by other ASVH departments
Serve as facility's statistician and official repository for statistical reports
Code diseases, diagnoses, and treatments using standardized coding systems as approved by AMRA for long-term care facilities
Function as the facility Custodian of Records
Verify that all releases of information take place in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures
Processes all subpoenas
Interpret rules and regulations in maintenance of medical records and monitors the accuracy of other department documentation
Perform the work of a Medical Records Specialist as required
Ensure that Physician credentialing files are complete and monitor for ongoing compliance and monitors for ongoing compliance
Supervise subordinate staff
Actively participate in AMS processes such as Huddle Boards, problem- solving, Job Breakdown Sheets, Success Tracking, and Standardized Work
Knowledge of:
Rules, regulations, policies, procedures of work unit, Veterans Administration, CMS, and State regulatory standards
Standard medical records practices, procedures and techniques
Medical and legal terminology
Current ICD coding and indexing
Medicare/AHCCCS and other insurance
HIPPA rules and regulations
Medical record retention and disposal
Skills in:
Communication
Time management
Problem- solving
Analysis
Supervision
Ability to:
Simultaneously manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
Train technical and clerical staff
Compile statistics and prepare comprehensive reports
Previous medical records experience in a long-term care facility
Previous supervisory experience
Requires the ability to obtain and retain a valid AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card

Current Negative Tb skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last 6 months or a written statement from a physician, physician’s assistant or a registered nurse practitioner indicating freedom from tuberculosis, if in the past has had a positive skin test or tuberculosis
