The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a responsible individual to join our Metal Fabrication Unit. This position is responsible for oversight of the production of custom and semi-custom metal goods while maintaining safety regulations.

- Trains and oversees inmate workforce in the day-to-day operation of the metal shops
- Contacts vendors and customers when required
- Reviews and monitors data input by inmates to ensure quality guidelines are met
- Responsible for timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory
- Ensures tool accountability
- Provides support in the absence of the supervisor
- Monitors scrap as per management guidelines
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
- Production methods and techniques, best practices, 6S
- Equipment used in the various metal shop area
- Computers in the area of design and graphics
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Security requirements and practices within a prison facility
- Measurements and close tolerances
- Writing of reports
- Communicating with others
Skill in:
- Interacting and communicating with vendors and customers
- Operation of a forklift (electric and gas) to load and unload trucks
Ability to:
- Lifting/Carrying 50lbs
- Pushing/Pulling 50lbs
- Walk/Run .25 miles
- Interact and communicate with vendors and customers
- Utilize communications skills to train subordinates on duties, procedures, and supporting equipment
- Work in a correctional environment with inmates
- Work well under a variety of conditions and time limes
- Work independently without supervision
- Adhere to ADCRR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a metal fabrication environment
Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination.
