The Legislative Council is a statutory committee of the Legislature chaired in alternate years by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives and includes six additional members from each chamber. The Council staff provide a variety of nonpartisan bill drafting, research, computer and other administrative services to all of the members of both houses of the Legislature.

Annual Salary Range: $46,000 - $52,000

Job Summary:

The Arizona Capitol Museum is located in the historic Arizona Capitol building at the center of Arizona’s state government complex.

The Museum utilizes artifacts, guided interpretation, virtual resources, interactive activities, and public programs to educate visitors on Arizona's governmental, political, and social history.

Offering free admission, the Museum welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually including 20,000 K-12 students.

Job Duties:

Reporting to the Museum Administrator, this full-time position is responsible for all museum branding and graphic design. Works closely with the museum staff to develop and produce graphics for museum exhibits, ranging from wall-wrap murals to text panels, object labels, and digital displays. Works closely with IT staff to maintain and update museum website. Manages social media and online presence. Creates promotional materials such as brochures, gift shop signage, and special program/event flyers. Carefully organizes design files and tracks edits made to drafts throughout the review and editing process. Works with vendors to secure bids for printing/fabrication and collaborates with staff to oversee installation process. Experience in photography and editing video preferred.

Occasionally guides tours of the Arizona Capitol Museum and legislative buildings. Provides store and information desk coverage and other duties as assigned. Opens and closes museum as scheduled. Works seasonal Saturday hours and other special after-hours/weekend events.

This is not a remote position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):


• Knowledge of graphic design and visual art pertaining to museums or arts and culture

• Knowledge of copyright laws, intellectual property and trademark rights

• Knowledge of graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite

• Knowledge of commercial printing procedures and requirements


• Skill in project management, attention to detail, design modification, organization, time management, proofreading, and problem solving


• Ability to use artistic skills to communicate ideas in educational and engaging ways

• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in a written format

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

• Ability to collaborate and work with a team

• Ability to receive constructive feedback

Selective Preference(s):

• Bachelor’s degree in art, graphic design, marketing, communications, or related field

• Minimum two years’ experience working in a design or creative capacity

• Experience working in a museum or arts and culture setting

• Experience working with printing/fabrication vendors

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Required to drive on State business; must possess a valid Arizona driver's license
