The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking to fill the Offender Information Unit (OIU) Manager position. This position oversees the operations of the Offender Information Unit.
- Supervises and evaluates staff performance, including disciplinary actions and assigning special projects
- Reviews, updates, and writes internal operational procedures, reports, and instructions
- Facilitates inmates’ telephonic hearings
- Reviews and finalizes inmate’s release paperwork
- Confers with federal, state, and local law enforcement officers and officials regarding issues and questions affecting agency systems
- Processes assorted detainers and US treaty packets
- Instructs the OIU and complex staff on OIU responsibilities
- Identifies differing areas of inmates’ release procedures, release date calculations, detainers, warrant procedures and laws, and areas of public information legalities
- Interprets policies and procedures and makes recommendational changes when necessary
- Provides technical support
- Ensures that all OIUs and complex locations comply with policies, procedures, and Federal and State laws that govern offender records
- Acts as a liaison for complex locations regarding statewide inmate movement
- Responds to correspondence and telephone inquiries from courts, inmates, ADCRR staff, attorneys, and the public
- Attends court on behalf of ADCRR for extradition hearings
- Inspects and audits staff workloads and processes
- Plans and develops improvements, including changes in staff assignments
- Manages the OIU operational budget as necessary
- Attends and conducts briefings, meetings, and seminars
- Assists in updating count sheets, including missing beds and inmates showing in more than 1 bed location
- Provides support, guidance, and recommendations for correcting and inputting data in the Arizona Correctional Information System (ACIS)
- Trains new staff on ACIS or OIU job functions
- Completes assigned special projects and related administrative tasks
- Ensure appropriate security practices are implemented, and incidents are documented
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
- Work management and supervision principles and techniques
- Federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing offender records and provisions of release of information
- Interstate Agreement on Detainer laws and procedures
- Criminal codes, sentence and parole laws, and methodology of time calculations for release dates
- Functions and jurisdictions of local, state, and federal courts and law enforcement agencies
- Board of Executive Clemency policies, procedures, and programs as they apply to offender releases
- Administrative office practices and procedures

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and a drug test.

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
