Job Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced leader to serve as our Office Chief for the Disease Integration and Services division. The purpose of the role is to direct the program to promote health and wellness and disease prevention while ensuring compliance with federal funding requirements. This is a key role that will interact with local health officers, legislators and other community stakeholders and will need to possess a comprehensive knowledge of epidemiology, strategic planning, program evaluation, health care and service delivery. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized self-starter who can anticipate the needs of the bureau and take initiative to solve problems independently, possess strong judgment, have excellent verbal/written communication skills, and have a high level of professionalism and discretion at all times. 

The selected candidate will oversee program managers who will be responsible for the following programs: Ryan White Part B Care and Services Program, HIV Prevention Program, TB Control Program, STD Surveillance and Control Program, and HIV Surveillance Program. 
Responsibilities will include:
  • Grow and support/supervise a team of program managers;
  • Oversee budget development and administration and approve purchase requisitions and other expenditures; manages contracts and grants;
  • Develops related policies, procedures, rules, regulations and legislation;
  • Represent the Department and present to local planning groups, local health departments and community-based organizations; 
  • Guide and coordinate integration efforts.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Administration or closely related field
  • Have 5 years of progressive operational management experience in public health or system evaluation
  • A Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of professional experience.


Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
