Job Summary:

This position will report to the Assistant Claims Manager and is responsible for informing, clarifying, and instructing workers, employers, insurance carriers and other affected stakeholders regarding Title 23, Chapter 6, of the Arizona Revised Statutes, (Arizona Workers’ Compensation Act), Workers’ Compensation Practice & Procedures Rules, and the workers’ compensation system.

Job Duties:

This position may also monitor and obtain information to address 1061 (J) hearings, 1061 (M) penalties and other such items. This position will assist in the development of and participate in divisional team member training and employee development and carrier outreach programs as directed; participate in the Arizona Management System (AMS) and daily Huddleboard; attend staff meetings, seminars, conferences, training classes; as indicated; recommend continual improvement and explore new opportunities to increase the effectiveness on the Claims Division

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  •  Basic knowledge or ability to learn of applicable workers compensation claims management laws,
    statutes, case laws.
  • Basic medical terminology.
  • Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Google Office Suite, Gmail, Sheets and Docs.
  • Basic English
  • Basic mathematics
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry claims adjusting standards and practices. organization,
    procedures analysis and policy development; the state and federal rules and regulations governing
    the area of assignment.

  • Effectively able to communicate verbally and in writing to resolve disputes with interested parties.
  •  Basic analysis of insurance, medical and legal documents.
  • Review and interpret Arizona Workers' Compensation laws, rules, procedures, and court decisions

Retirement:

You will be eligible to participate in the state employee health/disability insurance plan, and you are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). ASRS participation may begin immediately or upon your 27th week of employment. Contributions are matched by the employer.
