Arizona State Parks and Trails protects and preserves 30 State Parks and Natural Areas. Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Assistant Manager, performs a variety of work activities while providing customer service in the operation of a recreational/ natural resource park; interprets natural features of the area, and ensures public safety by enforcing Park rules and regulations.

This position must be able to work weekends, holidays, evenings and could possibly relocate to another state park seasonally and or permanently.

This position will be assigned a special responsibility that will be on-going and continuous . They will be the lead person for the task, and task will be assigned based on staffing skills, and can be reassigned based on which staff is best skilled for the position.

Job Duties:

- Hosts visitors.
- Conducts interpretive programs and may lead guided walks or hikes.
- Provides information in response tp visitor questions , directions, guidance, and concerns.
- Provides customer service by phone and in-person and respond to publics inquiries about park hours, accommodations, reservations.
- Complete custodial cleaning of restrooms, cabins, buildings, vehicles, and trash removal.
- Perform cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop.
- Collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases.
- Ensure the maintenance tasks of buildings and grounds as assigned based on skills and abilities.
- Promote the safety of park visitors and enforces Park rules and protect Park resources.
- Utilizes two-way radio communications system.
- Confers with local officials and law enforcement officers.
- Completes all necessary reports concerning incidents.
- Perform cashier duties at the office/visitor center.
- Collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Park rules, fees and revenue functions.
- Techniques for display and interpretation of objects/ artifacts and general resources to visitors.
- General office procedures.
- Basic first Aid training, Basic construction, custodial, maintenance ability and Computer skills.

Skill in:
- Public relations and information dissemination.
- Active listening, service orientation, critical thinking.
- Driving and operating automatic equipment, basic curatorial techniques.
- Oral and written communication, Public speaking.
- Basic building and vehicle maintenance skills.

Ability to:
- Research of natural or historical information.
- Performing math calculations.
- Working in team and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
- Work outside in extreme temperatures, maintain buildings, vehicles, and grounds.
- Enforces rules and regulations.
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor in emergencies or high-stress situations.

Selective Preference(s):

Two years of experience equivalent to a Park Ranger Specialist OR three years of work experience in customer service work OR a Bachelor's degree in Park Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field. Any combination of training and experience that meet knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver's license appropriate to assignment.
