Job Summary:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of work activities while providing customer service in the operation of a recreational, historic or natural resource park; interprets natural features of the area, or historic objects/artificats for visitors; and ensures public safety by enforcing Park rules and regulations.

Job Duties:

Outdoor Recreation & Programmatic - Hosts visitors, provides information in response to visitor questions, direction, guidance, and concerns.

Customer Service - Provides customer service by phone and in-person and responds to publics inquires about park hours, accomodations, and reservations.

Cash handling - Perform cashier duties at contact station and park gift store. Collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases

Public & Staff Safety - Promote the safety of park visitor and enforces Park rules and protect Park resources. Utilizes two-way radio communications systems; Confers with local law enforcement officers.

Perform various maintenance tasks proficiently including vehicle and park equipment, building maintenance, preventative maintenance and minor plumbing and/or electrical.

May lead and assist in training subordinate staff.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
Possess knowledge of Park operations, natural resource conservation, and environmental regulations. Understands public safety, emergency response protocols, and the interpretation of natural and cultural resources for visitors.

Skil in:
Demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills when assisting visitors, and leading educational programs. Skilled in operating Park equipment, completing landscaping, and general building/grounds maintenance.

Ability to:
Able to work independently and make sound decisions in changing outdoor environments. Able to perform physically demanding tasks, including hiking, lifting equipment, and working in various weather conditions while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Selective Preference(s):

Two years of experience equivalent to a Park Ranger Specialist; OR three years of work experience in customer service work; OR a Bachelor's degree in Park Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field. Any combination of training and experience that meet knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

- Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver's license appropriate to assignment.
- First Aid CPR Certified.
- Certified Interpretive Guide preferred.
