Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of work activities while providing customer service in the operation of a recreational park; interprets natural features of the area and amenities, for visitors; and ensures public safety by enforcing Park rules and regulations. Operates the ASPT POS system with competence and accuracy, performing reporting tasks as assigned by Park Assistant Manager and Park Manager. Grounds-keeping activities as assigned.
Volunteer Coordination: You will serve as the Volunteer Coordinator for the park under the direction of the Park Manager and the ASPT Volunteer Manager. Duties include the recruitment, on-boarding, scheduling and supervision of camp hosts and local volunteers. To ensure that the program adheres to the requirements and protocols of ASPT. Coordinate human resources and recognition aspects for all volunteers at Cattail Cove State Park. May also serve as Social Media Coordinator for park.

Job Duties:

Duties include:

Outdoor recreation & programs- Host visitors, help train staff and volunteers, conduct interpretive programs as needed and occasionally represent ASPT to groups. Provide information in response to visitor questions, direction, guidance and concerns of the public.

Customer Service- Provides customer service by phone and in person, responds to the publics inquiries about park hours, park fees, accommodations and reservations. Responsible for park representations and decision making in the absence of Park Assistant Manager. Provide supervision and training to Park rangers and volunteers in customer service functions in a manner of upholding ASPT policies and procedures. Include monitoring and replying to social media inquiries.

Cash Handling- Perform cashier duties at the contact stations/gift shop, collect and account for park fee admissions and store purchases. Serve as a SME for the ASPT POS and reservation systems, supervising and training Park Rangers and volunteers staff.

Office Policy and Procedure- Maintain up to date information and logs on current reservation system policies, ensuring staff and volunteers are current on cash handling and credit card procedures, PCI training, ordering park store merchandise as well as office supplies. Keeping an active log to ensure sales accuracy.

Volunteer Coordination - Lead and assist in recruitment, training, scheduling supervision and retention of ASPT volunteers in alignment with the ASPT Volunteer Program and Manual.

Reporting- Completes reports regarding activities, transactions and progress to sale activities and volunteer tracking.

Social Media Coordination - Within the guidelines of the ASPT social media program, perform the needed tasks to ensure a quality electronic presence for Cattail Cove State Park

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Park rules, fees and revenue functions: Techniques and general/natural resources to visitors, and general office procedures.
Operational knowledge of human resource best practices as they apply to volunteers
Awareness of professional and personal development techniques in the workplace and volunteer environments
Business acumen that includes principles of retail displays, cash handling and inventory control.

Skills in:
Public relations and information dissemination; service orientation' critical thinking active listening; Google reporting format(s). Driving and operating automotive equipment; natural resource management. Multi tasking and deescalation techniques.
Computer literate for database and spreadsheet functions, payroll and scheduling
Comfortable communications in one on one, small group and public speaking situations. Proficient in clearly disseminating information to maintain up-to-date knowledge throughout the workforce and community.

Ability to:
Proficient operation of the ASPT POS system,, performing math calculations, first aid techniques, oral and written communications, interpersonal relationships, being able to deescalate upset or non-compliant visitors, train new staff and volunteers in policies and procedures. Being able to use various media tools and platforms, phones and computers.
Organize and tracking of communications to reflect accurate record keeping and correspondence
Professional and efficient use of phone, email and text formats as they relate to the workplace that is ASPT

Selective Preference(s):

An ideal candidate would have at least one year of experience in a park and recreation workplace or closely related field.
Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver's license appropriate to assignment.
Some positions may require certification as an Interpretive guide, and or Certified Tourism

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Complete ASPT Volunteer Coordinator training within 12 months of appointment.
Must possess first aid/cpr certification within 12 months of appointment.
- Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
