Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of work activities while providing customer service in the operation of a recreational, historic or natural resource park; interprets natural features of the area, or historic objects/artifacts for visitors; and ensures public safety by enforcing Park rules and regulations.
This position must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Duties:
- Maintenance: Duties include but are not limited to performing, coordinating, leading facility maintenance and repairs, landscaping, and other projects within the park while following maintenance standards. Operates and maintains trucks, various common grounds, and equipment maintenance tools. Including consistent cleaning of equipment and vehicles. Leads and participates in various custodial duties. Manages repairs to UTVs, Tractors, implements, and fleet vehicles. Coordinate irrigation operations and monitoring at the historical ranch house garden. Coordinates with contractors when needed for facility and fleet repairs. In addition, performs all purchasing related to these maintenance projects. Maintenance of facility and fleet/tractor/UTVs vehicles. Operation of UTVs, and Tractor with multiple attachments. Plumbing, electrical, landscaping. Purchasing supplies and materials for maintenance. Water Distribution and testing
- Customer Service: Provides customer service by phone and in-person and responds to public inquiries about park hours, accommodations, reservations, etc., answer phones, cash collection, helping with weekend programs & Gift Shop.
- Cash Handling: Performs cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop; collects and accounts for park fees and store purchases. Cash collection.
- Public & Staff Safety: Promotes the safety of park visitors, enforces Park rules and protects Park resources; Confers with local officials and law enforcement officers; participates in rescues and helps manage emergency situations. Completes all necessary reports concerning incidents. Enforcing park rules.
- Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
Candidates must have knowledge of:
• ADEQ compliance in Water Distribution and be able to obtain a certification if not already certified
• Basic construction - electrical, carpentry, and plumbing.
• Vehicle operation and maintenance.
• Basic use of hand tools and power tools including but not limited to saws and drills • Landscaping/Trail Maintenance
• Consistent and effective custodial function.
• Basic first aid.
• Park rules and regulations.
• Computer fundamentals (e.g., word processing, data-entry, web-base reservation, etc.). • Chainsaw safety and tree hazard.
Candidates must have skills in:
• Basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
• Driving, operating and servicing motorized and automotive equipment including but not limited to UTVs, tractors, and trailers.
• Effective public contact.
• Oral and written communication.
• Interpersonal relationships.
• Assigning and working with volunteer work crews.
Candidates must have the ability to:
• Uniformly and consistently interpret and enforce agency rules and regulations.
• Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Work with groups of people while maintaining a courteous and professional manner.
• Work weekends, holidays and night shifts.
• Work independently and as a member of a team.
• Obtain and maintain an Arizona drivers license.
• Drive and operate park equipment and power tools in a safe and effective manner during the day and at night.
• Respond to occasional park emergencies such as power failures, water line breaks and medical assistance.
• Understand and utilize a web-based reservation system.
Documented job experience in the trades such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, vehicle maintenance, facility or grounds maintenance.
Prior experience in the upkeep and operation of a recreational park.
Must obtain, possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver's license appropriate to assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving.
Ability to complete required training to become a certified Water Distribution Operator within six months of hire.
