Arizona State Veterans' Home - Flagstaff is actively seeking a proactive and skilled Physical Plant Supervisor to oversee the comprehensive operations of our Facilities Management Department. Job Duties:

As the Physical Plant Supervisor you will:

  • Plan, organize and supervise the maintenance activities/projects of the Arizona State Veteran Home ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations and facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintain required records; prepare reports.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for the both the building and grounds.
  • Conduct continuous inspections and reviews of maintenance procedures, assignments and projects, ensuring that all preventive maintenance and repairs occur to keep the facility and equipment in sound working condition; conducts inspections of the grounds to ensure that they are properly and safely maintained.
  • Supervise subordinate staff to ensure the goals and objectives of the work unit are met.
  • Plan, organize, assign and review the work of the maintenance staff.
  • Oversee Engineering personnel issues and tasks.
  • Supervise all building and/or grounds alterations and new construction projects.
  • Coordinate with state consultants, as appropriate.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contract requirements and acceptability of work.
  • Develop, document and implement safety plans to include disaster plans/drills, fire safety inspections and fire drills.
  • Assist in projecting budget for maintenance operation.
  • Provide input concerning needs for supplies, personnel, utility requirements and contractual services.
  • Submit improvement requests to Administrator.
  • Ensure all state procurement rules are followed; works within budget parameters and monitors expenditures.
  • Supervise the state owned vehicle fleet to ensure appropriate usage and proper maintenance.
  • Actively involved in AMS processes such as huddle boards, problem-solving, job breakdown sheets, success tracking, and standardized work.
    Serves on committees and attends related meetings.
  • Complete special projects, as assigned
  • Consult with department and facility managers relative to program objectives, staffing and equipment needs, budget, operational policies and procedures, and management issues.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Current Negative TB skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last twelve months or a written statement from a physician, physician’s assistant or a registered nurse practitioner indicating freedom from Tuberculosis, if in the past has had a positive skin test or Tuberculosis
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
  • This position requires the ability to drive on State business. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see A.AC. R2-10-207.11).
