We’re the State of Arizona’s primary facility of approximately 400 employees, providing education and rehabilitation to Arizona’s youth. Our Continuous Improvement Bureau is a small, collaborative team seeking a Planning and Research Analyst Senior to ensure accurate data tracking, reporting to numerous internal and external stakeholders, carrying out a broad and complex range of analytical and statistical activities. The position works to support data driven decision making and process improvements across the agency. Conduct multiple annual reports such as recidivism rate tracking and population forecasting as well as program evaluations, performance measures and special topic studies.

Job Duties:

The job functions of a Planning and Research Analyst Senior include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Designing and preparing professional reports, memorandums, and presentations from analysis of data and literature reviews
-Designing, conducting or participating in research projects
-Collecting and/or pulling data and performing statistical analysis with software such as SPSS, SQL, Access and Excel
-Project Management
-Conducting literature reviews
-Performing other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
-In-depth experience in conducting research with various research methodologies and techniques
-Evidence based practices in criminal justice
-Development of performance measures and indicator

Skill in:
-Advanced statistical skills; manipulation and analysis of datasets; and technical query development from data systems
-Research methods, including methodology development, sampling techniques, methods to identify variation in performance data, statistical analysis and data quality/validation methods
-Organization skills that results in prioritization of multiple tasks and ability to meet deadlines
-Project management experience
-Statistical software such as SPSS, Excel, Access or SQL
-Proficient writing skills

Ability to:
-Design and prepare professional reports from analyses data and literature reviews
-Identify, analyze and report trends and issues
-Collaborate with others outside and inside the agency to identify problems and form recommendations
-Recommend evidence-based interventions
-Work in a correctional environment

Selective Preference(s):

Experience in SQL Management Studio and Bachelor's degree or higher in a social science discipline and/or at least 3 years or more of in-depth research experience. Experience with SPSS, Microsoft Office, Google Suites to compile data and lead projects. Familiarity within the Criminal Justice field, is preferred but not required.
