The Arizona Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting a Program Specialist for the Office of Weights and Measures. This position functions in a standard office environment.
The Office’s primary mission is to promote the integrity and fairness of Arizona commerce involving weighing or measuring for commercial purposes, by regulating and supporting businesses in a manner that protects the interests of both the consumer and the business. The Office carries out this mission by maintaining the State standards of weight and measure, licensing commercial devices, and conducting a wide variety of inspection programs to ensure equity in the marketplace.
Duties to include but limited too:
● Schedules a variety of inspections and re-inspections (e.g., vapor recovery, fuel quality, UPC, scales) using the department's database and manages the consumer complaint process from intake to resolution.
● Performs technical reviews of inspection reports, prepares civil penalties or notices when appropriate, and tracks related metrics and reports.
● Assists with licensing tasks, including processing overdue invoices and Deputy Weighmaster applications, and manages corporate billing accounts through data entry and research.
● Ensures administrative compliance and data integrity by performing regular audits of administrative records, resolving non-technical discrepancies, and documenting administrative workflows.
● Coordinates with industry professionals (RSR/RSAs) and provides administrative support to Compliance Managers, Officers, and other program staff as needed.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
● Relevant statutes, rules, and department procedures.
● Agency licensing and receivable systems.
● General accounting practices.
● Computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
SKILLS IN:
● Effective written and verbal communication.
● Customer service and problem-solving techniques.
● Research, analysis, and data entry.
ABILITY TO:
● Interpret rules, policies, and statutes.
● Establish priorities and manage a fluctuating workload.
● Develop operating procedures for administrative tasks.
● Three (3) or more years of responsible administrative experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and two years of responsible administrative experience; OR a Master's degree in a relevant field and one year of responsible experience.
Valid Driver's License

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Mandatory condition of Employment for all employees who meet the eligibility and membership criteria defined in statue. Current contribution rate is 12.00%. Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment
