Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing child protective services case management.

Job Duties:

- Supervises a unit of Department of Child Safety (DCS) Specialists engaged in providing child protective services case management
- Performs evaluations of staff performance
- Provides comprehensive training to new personnel
- Advises staff concerning DCS report guidelines
- Drives on state business
- Performs other related duties as required

Knowledge of:
- Federal and State laws, regulations and directives pertaining to DCS
- Risk assessment practices and procedures
- Supervisory techniques; personality development and adjustment
- Foster care programs
- Policies and procedures of court system
- Resources available in the community
- Policies and procedures established for the work system
- Personal Computers; Microsoft Office Suite

- Verbal and written communication
- Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships with internal and external customers

Selective Preference(s):

Preferred applicant will have successfully completed the following learning/training tracks:
- ADOA MANDATORY EMPLOYEE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- DCS MANDATORY EMPLOYEE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- DCS FIELD SPECIALIST MANDATORY LEARNING TRACK**

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in social work or closely related field from an accredited college or university AND
one (1) year of Department of Child Safety Program Specialist experience
– OR—
Four (4) years of combined Department of Child Safety Trainee/DCS Specialist/Office of Child Welfare  Investigator experience
OR
Three (3) Years of combined Department of Child Safety Trainee/DCS Specialist/Office of Child Welfare  Investigator experience AND one year of *professional level supervisory experience

*Professional level supervisor experience is defined as being accountable for managing people, deploying resources, administering performance evaluations, reviewing salary and making hire/fire recommendations.

Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.).
Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.

Must be able to secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card.


Must be able to secure and maintain clearance from the Guardian Central Registry.

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of state employment.
