The Project Manager is responsible for the administration and planning of technology projects to include managing the software development schedule of deliverables, implementing technology processes, and execution of all technology-related tasks and initiatives. This position serves as the liaison with internal customers, Third-parties and the Infrastructure team.
Major responsibilities include:
- Accomplishing project results by communicating expectations, planning, monitoring, and reviewing progress, coaching/counseling and motivating team members, coordinating, and enforcing development standards.
- Maintaining the Department's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.
recommends strategies, policies and procedures by evaluating desired organizational outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements.
- Directs technological research by studying organizational goals, strategies, practices and user projects. Verifies results by conducting user acceptance reviews of implemented technologies.
- Exercise skills in project management principles and practices, software development life cycle methodologies, agile concepts including Lean Management.
The candidate must have knowledge and/or skill in: thorough understanding of Project Management Principles and practices. General knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle Methodologies. Basic understanding of Agile Concepts including Lean Management. Proficient in the use of project management process and tools.
The candidate must have skill in managing multiple projects ranging from small to large with the ability to prioritize delivery schedules and, leading planning and implementation of projects. Manages projects based on standards and practices, but ability to define new approaches in design and testing phases.
The candidate must have the ability to: effectively convey ideas, goals, and issues to management and team members. Administer and coordinate groups of individuals by promoting teamwork, delegating tasks, resolving conflict, setting goals, and evaluating performance. Negotiating the use of resources, budgets, schedules, and manages scope. Predict and create solutions to issues before they arise to increase the chances of delivering projects successfully.
The candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree (preferably in a technology-related field) and have a minimum of three years of relevant experience managing projects, preferably in the IT Field. Certificates in Project Management and/or IT are preferred.

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
