This position manages and facilitates the construction plans and projects with the various technical areas and project stakeholders. Serves as a team lead for the consultant selection process, negotiates the consultant contracts and prepares the scope of work for final design services. This position approves the design schedule in cooperation with the project development team, monitors the project scope and schedule concurrently with the project budget, and approves consultant invoices for payment. May drive a State of Arizona vehicle in the course and scope of State business.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Leads and manages a multi-disciplines team consisting of in-house/consultant team members in the analysis, design, and preparation of construction plans, estimates, specifications, engineering studies, and reports complying with Department standards, policies, and procedures for complex projects. Facilitates reviews of engineering studies, reports, designs, plans, estimates, and special provisions developed by ADOT Groups/Sections, outside agencies, or consultants, and recommends approval or denial, while linking all technical units together.
Communicates with ADOT Groups/Sections and outside agencies to inform, facilitate and expedite the development of projects and improve the quality of our product. This includes communicating policies, procedures, and guidelines on material charges, enhancements, and the implications of scope changes at various stages of projects.
Arranges, conducts, and represents the project team at all meetings (including Public Information Meetings), ADOT Groups/Sections/Units, outside agencies, consultants, stakeholders, and public hearings. Identifies project issues, develops solutions, and facilitates resolution with team members, consultants, stakeholders, and ADOT management.

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering; or related degree with a minimum of two (2) years experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineering Specialist (TES).
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of ADOT project Development Process and a minimum of two (2) years of experience managing transportation projects. Excellent communication and computer skills.
Candidates will be required to meet registration requirements set forth by the Arizona Technical Board of Registration and attain an Arizona Professional Engineer Certification (PE) from the Board within 6 months of employment start date.
Valid Arizona Driver's License with acceptable 39 month MVR.
If position is required to drive on state business, the position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
