The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is searching for a Psychology Associate 2 candidate who is committed to making a difference in the lives of Arizona's youth. An individual who is ready for a rewarding career providing individual, group, and family counseling; assisting in the development of individual treatment plans; and evaluating high risk/ suicidal youth. The job functions of a Psychology Associate 2 include, but are not limited to the following:
-Providing individual, group, and family counseling sessions
-Evaluating high risk/ suicidal youth to determine the potential for self-injury or injury to others
-Administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological tests
-Attending team and/or board meetings to make recommendations regarding the release of a youth
-Assisting in the development of individual treatment plans
-Making unit research recommendations
-Psychological testing in the areas of administration, scoring, interpretation and report writing
-Methods, techniques, and procedures of psychological counseling and therapy
-Research methods and statistics
-Written and verbal communication
-Case management and interpersonal relations
-Computer operation, and software to include the Microsoft Office and Google Suites
-Establishing and maintaining professional work relationships
-Write effective summaries and reports
-Comply with Federal, State and Agency rules and regulations
-Work closely with adjudicated youth in a secure institutional setting
-Manage stressful situations
-Drive on state business
-Work in a correctional environment
Master's Degree required
Preferred candidate will have one or more of the following:
-Two years specialty treatment experience with juveniles or young adults in one or more of the following: Substance Abuse Treatment, Sexual Behavior, Mental Health, Severe Conduct Disorder, OR one year practice, post Master's Degree/Doctoral Degree, in behavioral health; OR two years independent practice, post Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE)* licensure, in behavioral health
* Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE) license must be current and active to engage in the practice of behavioral health in the State of Arizona (See Arizona Revised Statute §32-3271-4) AZBBHE licensure is a condition of continued employment.
The Psychology Associate 2 position requires that applicants successfully complete the following:
-Comprehensive Background Investigation
All candidates must possess and retain, a current valid Arizona Driver License**
