The Adobe Mountain School is a secure care juvenile correctional facility for the custody, treatment, rehabilitation, and education of committed youth. The Adobe Mountain School is fully accredited as a public education agency or school district, and is located approximately 19 miles north of downtown Phoenix.

*Plus 20% Critical Services Premium Pay Stipend (Reflected in each paycheck, for the remainder of the current fiscal year ending on June 30, 2022)

The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is seeking a Quality Assurance Nurse Compliance Officer applicant who is passionate about their profession and who will be committed to making a difference in the lives of Arizona’s underserved youth. The job functions of a Quality Assurance Nurse Compliance Officer include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Drafts policies and procedures pertaining to quality assurance using guidelines such as the type of care provided to the youth, facility practices, evidenced-based practices, complaints, audits, observation and other informational sources
-Gathers and analyzes data through audits, interviews and other activities to monitor compliance of all disciplines, departments and services with applicable policies and procedures, standards and regulations
-Reviews monthly reports and develops Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) based PIPs (Performance Improvement Plans) where needed
-Prepares, distributes and interprets reports, statistical analysis, data summaries and other written information to facility staff pertaining to the activities of QAPI; map out all infections with McGeer and Non-McGeer criteria to provide for timely tracking and trending; conduct infection control surveillance daily rounds to confirm compliance with individual care plans for residents with infections by facility staff; prepare monthly summary utilizing weekly tracking, trending, and facility mapping for QAPI committee
-Prepares periodic reports summarizing the status of facility compliance with established goals and measures set for quality assurance, as it pertains to health
-Assists supervisors/managers in developing and implementing corrective action plans; monitors and reports on facility's plans for correcting deficiencies identified by surveying agencies
-Ensures that facility meets state, federal regulations; ensures facility's policies and procedures meets regulations and are consistent with the facility's practices, and obtain National certifications as it pertains to health and medical deficiencies
-Investigates incidents of non-compliance; works with the Investigator/Loss Prevention Coordinator in investigating allegations of abuse, neglect and mistreatment of juvenile offenders.
-Monitor Vaccine Administration practices and adherence to Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommended vaccine schedules and compliance with Vaccines For Children Program (VFC)
-Coordinate facility preparations for surveys; monitors and reports on facility plans for correcting deficiencies identified by surveying agencies
-Chairs and coordinates Internal Quality Assurance Committee meetings. Prepares pertinent information and makes presentations of necessary information to meeting participants.
-Serves as a member of other committees which Impact the Quality Assurance Program, as it pertains to health and well-being
-Identifies training needs and develops and implements educational programs for staff across all shifts in all work practices and other areas related to quality assurance and compliance education and re-education to ensure that staff is adequately trained to meet the desired outcomes; maintains records to document training and compliance with regulations
-Coordinates provision of information for regulatory surveyors with Administrators and Medical Director
-Attends meetings, completed required in-service trainings, participates in special projects assigned by Administrator and assumes staff assignments when necessary
-Infection Preventiveness: Maintain current antibiotic listing by unit for daily review with Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT), confirm appropriate and effective use of antibiotics per diagnostic test results and coordinate with nursing administration and physicians as needed
-Keep abreast of any current information and attend educational opportunities to stay abreast of guidance provided by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and CDC
-Coordinate and manage surveillance data with daily/weekly rounds on an inter-departmental level; utilize collected data to assess compliance with existing infection control protocols; identify and address potential risk factors and need for education with each department
-Performing other duties appropriate to the assignment
Applicants must possess a valid Licensed Practical Nurse Certification or Registered Nurse Certification without restrictions in the State of Arizona or have a valid Registered Nurse Certification from a state that participates in the Interstate Nurse Licensure Compact. Infection Preventiveness Certification required.
Candidates must also have:

-Varied approaches and techniques of juvenile instruction consisting of measurement, assessment and skilled based competencies
-Verbal and written communication
-Problem solving techniques
-Applying juvenile techniques to address quality assurance
-Organize and conduct meetings
-Prepare reports utilizing statistical and factual data
-Multi-task and managing projects
-Teaching in varied situations primarily within a group or 1:1 setting
-Interpreting regulatory guidelines as they apply to development of training approaches
-Analyze, interpret information of data
-Work with all levels of organizations
-Hold other staff accountable
-Develop and coordinate training programs
-Work in a correctional setting
Two (2) years of quality assurance experience preferred; experience with CDC and VFC vaccine requirements and/or infectious disease surveillance
-Successfully pass an oral interview
-Successfully clear a comprehensive background investigation, post job offer drug test, and medical/physical examination
-Possession of, and ability to retain, a current valid Arizona-issued driver license*

Flexible Work Schedule:
The Quality Assurance Nurse Compliance Officer is currently assigned to work a “4-10” schedule, which requires working four ten hour days, with three consecutive days off.
