Job Summary:

Both facilities (Rifle and Pistol and Clay Target Center) are currently seeking to fill multiple temporary shooting range assistants. The assignments are to start by October and end by April 2022 (26 week assignment). Schedule will include working a rotating shift, including weekends and holidays outside in a noisy environment.

Under close supervision, the Shooting Range Assistants will perform entry level tasks associated with range safety enforcement, education and awareness while performing superior customer service.

Job Duties:
  • Observes public shooting and ensures a safe and family-friendly range experience for all customers
  • Performs daily maintenance tasks to include filling and maintaining the clay target machines and other range equipment, raking and cleaning various fields, emptying trash and assisting in the care of the landscape and other facility maintenance / custodial duties along with providing customer service and safety.
  • Assists range staff in set-up, implementation and completion of corporate events, introductory shooting programs, and other shooting sports activities throughout the year, in addition to performing basic maintenance and upkeep of the public shooting area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

The candidate must have exceptional customer service and communication skills and have the ability to interact and work with a diverse variety of customers, user groups, and employees. The candidate must have a safety mindset and be prepared to enforce range safety rules equally at all times.

Selective Preference(s):

General knowledge of proper and safe handling of a variety of firearms; range safety practices; and general knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic equipment is a plus.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

A Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card issued will be required. Must be legally able to possess a firearm in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. Employment is contingent upon completion of a post-offer medical/physical examination and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions. Medical/Physical examination will include a baseline blood lead level and a baseline hearing test, both which will be conducted on an annual basis.
