The Investigator is a critical position within the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC). The Investigator serves as a construction expert and investigates complaints against licensed contractors and unlicensed entities. This position will report to an Investigations Supervisor and will be assigned complaints in and around Maricopa County. The ROC Investigator will be supplied a vehicle, cell phone and laptop to complete assigned cases.
- Investigate complaints against licensed contractors that allege workmanship violations or other deficiencies.
- Investigate complaints against unlicensed entities for contracting without a license.
- Conduct inspections at job sites and document findings.
- Complete reports and write Corrective Work Orders, Warnings or other official documents.
- Increase public awareness of the Registrar of Contractors by providing general information to individuals and groups in an assigned region.
- Testify in criminal court or administrative hearings.
Equivalent to 5 years as a Licensed Contractor or in construction industry management or in building/construction inspections.
International Code Council Certification or ability to obtain certification within one year upon employment.
Candidates for this position will be required to submit to a criminal history investigation.
Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
