Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Apps Developer, the Research Analyst 2 position will serve as the lead researcher in the collection, processing, and coordination of data for a particular research study or group of studies. The Research Analyst 2 will work within established research protocol and under instructions as to the method and process necessary to perform a given assignment.

The Research Analyst 2 also has responsibility for monitoring and evaluating program progress, along with performing related work as required.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. 2 days per week in office/hoteling.

Job Duties:

• Develops and Implements research projects of relevance to the agency and Arizona's criminal justice systems

• Performs routine data verification and quality control assessments, ensuring data integrity and consistency with the prescribed study protocol

• Develops and executes standard and advanced research protocols, including both quantitative and qualitative data

• Assists with routine and advanced data analysis and interpretations

• Assists in the review, analysis, and reporting of statistical information from various agencies and stakeholders at all levels of the criminal justice system

• Performs presentations on research conducted by SAC to criminal justice partners and citizenry as required

• Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in the field of expertise

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of research methodologies and applications utilizing statistics, data, and other relevant information used to collect both quantitative and qualitative data

• Cooperates with agency staff, community organizations, and other groups and facilities in the design, development, modification, and implementation of agency projects and programs

• Consult with appropriate personnel regarding program goals, objectives, accountability, and delivery of service

• Prepares a variety of technical and administrative reports

Skills:

• Proficient in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to inform research and evaluation studies

• Proficient in statistical packages such as SPSS/STATA

• Provide effective guidance and expertise in the development and implementation of programs and projects in the area of assignment

Abilities:

• Demonstrates strong initiative and teamwork. Participates fully in coordination efforts within the criminal justice system

• Assist in the preparation of high-quality translational research reports, including routine and advanced data analysis and interpretation, as specifically assigned

• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders within and external to the agency

• Assist in the review and analysis of statistical information from various criminal justice agencies at all of the criminal justice system

• Review and evaluate program activities analytically and develop effective plans and methods for program improvement

• May travel to work sites to perform job analysis, conduct special studies, and meet with agency management. In and out-of-state overnight travel may occur

• Travel up to 10%

Selective Preference(s):

• Graduate degree from an accredited college or university with a specialty in statistical analysis, program evaluation, criminal justice research, or closely related area; or six years of experience in statistical analysis, program evaluation, criminal justice research, or equivalent knowledge and skills

• Three years of progressively responsible experience in criminal justice, in a governmental or academic setting
