Job Summary:

Under direction of the Right of Way (R/W) Acquisition Section Manager, this advanced level agent position has the authority to provide oversight, approvals, project coordination, direct and train assigned staff and consultants, and represent the R/W Acquisition Section regarding policies, processes and procedures to the public and to contractors. The position will require advanced level knowledge in all R/W Acquisitions Sections and functions.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Direct, oversee and provide approvals regarding R/W Acquisition, Residential Relocation and Business Relocation. Ensure lower level R/W Agents follow all applicable Federal and State laws, and regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Provides guidance and training to ADOT staff and consultants to ensure proper completion and compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, policies, and procedures.

  • Perform RW Acquisition and Relocation following all applicable Federal and State rules, regulations, policies, procedure.

  • Represent ADOT to the Public.

  • Statewide travel and overnight lodging as needed to support all primary responsibility. May drive a state vehicle in the course and scope of state business.

  • Federal land transfer and Tribal involvement process

  • Post-construction disposal best practices

  • Deeds and title data

  • Delineation and legal descriptions

  • Road construction concepts, theory and best practices

  • Civil engineering maps and plans reading, including R/W and Roadway Design plans

  • Apply the required knowledge and skills to meet the needs and goals of the Department  

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

Five years of progressively responsible technical right of way experience including at least two years of work similar or closely related to that done by a Right of Way Agent Senior.

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field may be substituted for two years of specialized experience.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License. Candidates for this position must complete and sign PART 1 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.11 (H) and (I). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
